Position Summary

The VP of Construction is the executive owner of energy project delivery — microgrid installations (solar, battery, generators), energy efficiency measures (MEP systems, lighting, building automation), and carbon-reduction projects — from early development through post-construction. The role manages one to several projects simultaneously, serving as the customer’s primary contact through implementation and delivering on time, on budget, and to quality, safety, and cash-management standards.

Assigned projects will include a combination of microgrid installations (solar, battery, generators), energy efficiency measures (MEP systems, lighting, building automation), and various carbon reduction strategies to help commercial and industrial customers around the United States become more sustainable, save money, and improve processes in their facilities.

Key Responsibilities

•    Own assigned projects end to end: design, contract negotiation, implementation, commissioning, and closeout.
•    Manage the Director of Projects, who runs engineering, pre-construction, and field execution.
•    Assign project team responsibilities and establish individual schedules; ensure projects are set up in project-management software.
•    Serve as the customer’s primary contact during implementation; travel to sites as required.
•    Manage subcontractors and self-performing teams; coordinate equipment delivery with suppliers, the Project Manager, and the owner.
•    Own technical scope: scope development, savings analysis, constructability, and review of engineering and energy analysis.
•    Manage all project cost components: actuals vs. budget, monthly budget analysis and forecasting; flag budget or staffing adjustments immediately.
•    Prepare and negotiate customer agreements and change orders with Legal; support Sales in development-phase presentations.
•    Maintain the project schedule with milestones; issue regular progress reports; obtain customer submittal sign-off.

Qualifications

•    BSME, BSEE, or Construction Management four-year technical degree.
•    7+ years of progressive experience in complex energy projects (microgrids, power generation, combined heat and power).

•    Strong financial analysis, proforma, and budget-management capability.
