Water Wastewater Business Developer

We are recruiting a high-performing candidate to join our Energy Services Sales and Business Development team. The position will be responsible help identify projects and opportunities including: Targets already identified and developed in the sales pipeline, plus the development of new Water and Wastewater Energy Retrofit projects.  The position is a highly visible role with regular interaction with senior management and collaboration with managers across the entire ESCO Project Development Group, Sales & Business Development Teams, and the Engineering and Project Delivery Teams. This is a highly dynamic role that needs an adaptive individual capable of supporting a wide variety of Water and Wastewater topics. The position reports to the Director of Sales and will require some travel in CA & AZ.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Market research and analysis on industry trends and regulatory pressures
  • Assess, evaluate, and benchmark of competitors and water technologies
  • Develop and support proposals for senior management on strategic initiatives
  • Work closely with the existing ESCO Sales team, driving towards closing profitable business
  • Support execution of various strategic topics including new vendor and technology partners, roll-out, contracting and implementation
  • Regularly observe and report on industry activity like M&A, industry reports, marketing materials, participation and attendance at trade shows, etc.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Related business development and strategy experience specifically in the Water and Wastewater markets 
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and analytical skills
  • Solid understanding of the technologies and jargon used in a typical Water and Wastewater Plant
  • Proficiency in business model analysis
  • Exceptional proficiency with office tools like Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Deep knowledge of the water/wastewater vertical markets (problems, challenges faced, buying requirements, rules & regulations, decision making processes, etc.) 
  • Willingness to manage longer selling cycles and the tenacity to drive complex solution-based projects
