MEP Estimating Manager – Sacramento

Position Overview: The Estimating Manager provides the necessary development, implementation and monitoring in order to accurately complete the project estimating and bidding process at Client. Analyzes plans, specifications, bid requests and other documentation to prepare labor time, labor cost, subcontractor, material and equipment cost estimates in developing bid estimates on behalf of Client. Performs Take Offs of drawings and specifications in preparation for preparing bids and estimates in response to customer requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Estimating manager has the following Primary responsibilities and duties:
- In conjunction with the VP, BD director and President, decides which projects to bid.
- Attends, or assigns someone to attend, pre-bid project meetings and walk-throughs.
- Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a pre-bid checklist.
- Generates client leads through developed contacts.
- Conducts contract and scope review with project team.
- In conjunction with Executive Management, determines the overhead, profit, contingency and mark-up factors to be included in each bid.
- Reads and reviews all general requirements in specifications, reviews the scope of work for the entire project and identifies those areas in which the company may need the services of a subcontractor.
The Estimating manager is responsible for and performs the following Pre-Staff Support: Pre-Construction activities:
- Holds Estimating to PM handoff per the Operating Procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of submittal information as required by the contract.
- Makes sure the Estimating personnel are working with the latest drawings.
The Estimating manager is responsible for and performs the following Job-In-Process activities:
- Clarifies questions as they arise to assure the successful completion of the project.
- Works with project managers to assist in any change order situations.
The Estimating manager is responsible for and performs the following Management activities:
- Reports significant problems and trends to the VP and President.
- Manages the workload and responsibilities of the Estimating Team to ensure the bid schedule is tracked and the current team can complete the tasks assigned.
