This position requires exceptional project management skills, field work, and a deep understanding of building systems that impact energy usage. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the NYC Department of Education’s (DOE) sustainability goals while performing highly technical duties and coordinating diverse projects. Other related work may also be assigned.

About:

Client leads the country in driving successful school district energy-savings projects. Our core focus is turning school district energy liabilities into educational assets. Our mission is to improve the learning environments for 1,000,000 students over the next 5 years.

Location:

Client is based in Smithtown, New York and performs activities on a hybrid work schedule. This role will primarily work in NYC on worksites and is expected to attend in-person strategic and planning meetings as needed.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate technically complex engineering conditions and present findings, calculations, analyses and

recommendations in written reports.

  • Review complex project designs by others with follow-up written reports including comments,

analyses and recommendations.

  • Evaluate existing and new technologies and industry innovations and their applicability to school

designs considering the school’s location and maintenance needs.

  • Examine all operating procedures and practices employed, and recommend improvements required.
  • Conduct detailed energy assessments and energy auditing services.
  • Energy and sustainability related proposals development and review, design and construction

specifications and standards development.

  • Review of current energy management and associated greenhouse gases reductions strategy.
  • Focus on addressing maintenance issues for the worst-performing, most carbon intensive buildings to increase Energy-Efficient Operations and Maintenance
  • Identify Retro-commissioning projects to ensure that a building’s energy systems and equipment were installed

Qualifications:

  • Engineering services., Certification as a QEWI may be substituted for up to two (2) years of relevant

experience.

  • Must possess an excellent working knowledge of old and new building and construction systems, their

effectiveness, and costs.
