Director of Operations – Energy Management

Core Focus: Reporting directly to the Vice President, the Director of Operations will serve as the overall team leader, managing Project Managers, Project Engineers, and the Project Development team across a portfolio of high-profile projects. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing all phases of energy projects. These projects involve a combination of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy installations, benefiting local cities, schools, municipalities, and other customers by promoting sustainability and cost savings. As a key partner with the sales team, you’ll be involved from early development through construction…managing close collaboration to develop, close, and secure a portfolio of energy projects.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership by managing employee development plans, business goals, and performance reviews.
- Assess and manage workload and resource allocation, including hiring manpower for the annual plan.
- Maintain relationships with key customers, managing their expectations and satisfaction through direct reports.
- Act as the quality manager for project execution.
- Supervise the construction operations team, providing leadership to ensure execution meets customer needs.
- Maintain margin levels, develop cost-to-complete and recovery plans and manage projects’ cash flow.
- Oversee teams working with AHJ, DSA, and utility special inspections to ensure permit sign-offs.
- Collaborate with Procurement, manage warranty and non-project related accounts, and establish processes.
- Support sales efforts directly or through construction personnel.
- Provide constructability review of scopes during project development.
Absolutes:
- Degree in Engineering or related experience
- Experience managing energy-related projects (energy efficiency/solar/microgrid/battery storage/lighting/etc).
- Project development.
- Construction management experience.
- Leadership/building teams/client facing.
