Position Scope – Well-established retail energy client is recruiting for a Director of Sales, CAISO that will be responsible for managing strategic customer accounts specifically in the California competitive commercial energy market and also at a national level, maximizing all opportunities.  The Director will also be responsible for marketing conventional power products and renewables solutions.


  • Manage an established/existing California commercial retail book of business
  • Through client acquisition and servicing clients, this role serves as the liaison between Client and the retail customer
  • Support company’s growth by originating leads, closing sales, supporting existing clients, formulating sales strategies and communicating product value to clients
  • Execute origination strategy for securing conventional power products and renewables sales
  • Review, evaluate, prepare, and respond to requests for bids and RFPs
  • Assess customers’ needs and present solutions to C-Suite prospects that include the full product and service offering of retail power, demand response, solar (rooftop, off site renewables, etc.) onsite generation, and energy efficiency
  • Point person in pre-deal contract negotiations. manage changes and resolve special contract issues for large customer accounts during the term of an agreement
  • Responsible for coordinating with Sales Support, Pricing, Credit, Trading, legal, & other internal teams

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • In depth knowledge of the power and renewable energy market dynamics, wholesale and retail products and related component breakdown
  • Experience in selling and working knowledge of energy related services; i.e. wind, solar, onsite generation, demand response, energy efficiencies, etc.
  • Experience in US deregulated electricity markets
  • Ability to stay current with market regulations, emerging technologies and market trends in the US power & renewables markets
  • Must have a commercial mindset, be a problem solver and able to articulate thoughts and concepts
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate terms & conditions of energy and energy related services contracts
