 The Energy Engineer audits and develops energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. This includes, performing on-site energy audits, creating customer reports, investigating utility incentives, calculating energy savings, writing technical reports, monitoring variables that drive energy calculations, and working with sales and development to present audit findings to the customer and discuss energy conservation measures. Also mentor and train other team members.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Audits w/ focus on mechanical & control systems, lighting & energy efficiency
  • Complete historical utility billing analysis and facility benchmarking analysis
  • Conduct meetings with customers to gain an understanding of each customer’s needs
  • Complete Energy Conservation Measure, energy calculations, savings projections & ECM narrative
  • Build relationships with equipment suppliers, mechanical contractors and control contractors
  • Collaborate with construction team



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Energy Engineering
  • CEM / PE


  • Experience in an energy or mechanical engineering
  • Experience working on energy efficiency construction projects w/ commercial/industrial facilities
  • Experience working with Utility Sponsored Energy-Efficiency Rebates

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Energy efficiency methodology; in-depth, advanced knowledge base
  • Technical report writing; demonstrated ability to successfully write technical reports.
  • Energy modeling; ability to develop Excel-based energy modeling on mechanical/electrical systems
  • Basic Design Software skills; AutoCAD and/or 3-D modeling
